Lionheld: A Mission of Hope and Spiritual Growth
After living and working in Humjibre for over a year, Charlie Goldstein realized he wanted to make a long term difference for its education starved young people and the rural Jewish community. He created Lionheld in 2023 with a unique targeted mission of hope and spiritual growth.
Lionheld Strives to:
Strengthen educational access, infrastructure and teaching in Ghana’s underserved communities, beginning in Humjibre.
Support the spiritual growth and economic health of native Jewish communities in Sefwi Wiawso, Kumasi and Accra.
Support small businesses and working families by creating sustainable and long-lasting jobs.

Lionheld’s Founder
Charlie Goldstein first visited Ghana in 2013 on a volunteer trip, where he did the hands on work of teaching local farmers and small businesses how to access savings accounts and acquire much needed financial literacy skills. Understanding the daunting challenges these talented, welcoming people faced every day, Charlie wanted to quickly return to Ghana and do more. After working on his first of many political campaigns in the United States, he jumped at the chance to assist a health and education NGO in the town of Humjibre in Ghana’s Western Region. In Humjibre, he met Enock "Happy" Nkrumah and the pioneering idea of the Happy International School (HIS) was born. Charlie was also introduced to a small Jewish community of approximately 200 people in nearby Sefwi Wiawso, whose connection and devotion to Judaism truly inspired him. Charlie quickly established an online store for this community, allowing them to sell their beautiful handmade challah covers to Jews throughout the world and gather critical funds for the advancement of their faith.
